Service Opportunity!

Hi Quilters!

We have an amazing opportunity to help out with both the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter and the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) in Grangeville- but we can't do it without one key ingredient.... you.

A few lovely quilters have donated over 80 unfinished quilt tops- with the intent that any proceeds from the quilt tops be donated to the animal shelter. To help bring this to pass, we have joined together for an Adopt-a-Top program. Here's how it goes:

We need you to come into Home Grown Quilts (both Lewiston and Grangeville locations have quilts) to adopt a quilt top . We need to you quilt and bind the quilts- and bring the quilts back finished to either Home Grown Quilts location by Saturday, August 31st.
On Saturday, September 7th all quilts will be auctioned off with the joint collaboration of ARF and the LC Animal Shelter during the Grangeville Quilt Walk with 100% of the proceeds to be split between them.

The quilt tops range in size from 18.5" X 18.5" to 108" x 115", so there are plenty of quilts for any kind of time or budget. There are vintage flour-sack quilts to quilts with a modern feel. There are even a few quilt blocks that need to be made into a quilt.  Something for everyone. You can hand quilt, machine quilt, pay for a long-arm quilter... your choice.

As part of the project, Home Grown Quilts is offering all batting, backing, and binding fabric 40% off.

If you think this project is amazing, however you don't have the time or resources for an entire quilt adoption- we are accepting monetary donations to go toward getting supplies to get these quilts finished.

This project will only succeed with your help. We hope to make it a successful fund raising for our wonderful animal shelters. Together we can make this happen.

We will see you soon!
From our laps to yours,
Jody and her peeps at Home Grown Quilts

OK, for real- cutest quilt ever. Stars in the background and appliqued owls.... be still our hearts. In class we'll be working on the 9 large background stars and the applique owls/branches- and if there is leftover time we will be working on the 12 small star blocks and getting the quilt put together.

MYSTERY TWO COLOR QUILT CHALLENGE
We're hosting a mystery two-color quilt challenge!  We're using Lori Holt's book, Vintage Christmas. (We have only 1 book left from our first big order. More are on their way!) All quilts will have the same finished size of 68 1/2" square(ish)- and use the same structure of your choice of (16) 6" blocks and (9) 12" blocks joined with your choice of 4 different sashing types that shown in the book.
The mystery is that one of your colors that is chosen will come from a blind grab into our bag of Crayola crayons. For example: Breezi did a blind grab and got violet as her color (She wasn't thrilled....lol)  and picked a yellowish cream color for the 2nd choice. Using a mix of fabrics, the quilt below was the end result. The other quilt she did as the shop sample was navy blue and white.

We are going to display all finished quilts (or quilt tops) at the 3rd Bi-Annual Quilt walk on Saturday, Sept 7th 2019... so you have to get to work :D

This is going to be a ton of fun. We haven't "officially" announced this challenge yet and already have 19 people that signed up and picked a color crayon. Crayons are available at both shop
s (and we still have lots of great colors!)

As always, any event/class we host we give a 15% discount on all supplies needed for the project.

We will be hosting a sew day at both shops for the 2 color quilt challenge on Saturday, July 20th from 9:30am-3pm, where everyone can work on their quilts.

**Each class has a Supply List. There may be additional class costs for special sewing supplies, such as patterns, or special rulers, etc.  Fabric requirements will be listed.  Once you register for your class and receive your Supply List, you will qualify to receive a 15% discount on all required supplies. To receive the discount, you must have your Supply List with you when you make your purchase.   NOTE:  Students are required to have their own patterns and tools during classes.  This enables the classes to stay on the curriculum schedule rather than having the class wait while students borrow supplies from each other.**
